Our egg-laying hen flock is comprised of two heritage breeds, Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks. Our hens are 100% free-range and do indeed roam far and wide each day in search of tender grasses, juicy bugs and a nice patch of shade in the tree line for an afternoon rest. At night, they sleep in a mobile chicken house where they lay their eggs. Their golden orange yolks are produced from their pasture foraged diet full of omega-3s, vitamins and nutrients. You can always tell a truly free-range, pastured chicken egg by the rich color of the egg yolks! We supplement their diet with organic feed and minerals.
